     CHARITY WARNINGS!!

Many so-called charities are nothing more than fraudulent scams by victimizers out to steal your money!

Know also that  whenever a disaster strikes in an area, the fake charities blossom and  multiply. 

Floods, tornadoes, earthquakes,  fires, etc., are common occasions of these fakes cropping  up.

Do NOT donate unless you know the charity is reputable or you've personally checked out the charity with one of the two major watchdogs, listed below. 

Also, be on the lookout for charities that routinely spend more of their donors’ dollars on administrative and fundraising costs than on the programs that benefit people in need.  The following organizations evaluate charities and provide info & easy-to- understand ratings. Listed below are the charitable organizations that we favor.

              All the charities on the following list met several criteria. First, they must have low overhead expenses,

              ensuring that most of the money you donate goes to its mission rather than its operation. They are also

              financially transparent, making them trustworthy causes to give your money to.  All of these organizations

              have four-star ratings from Charity Navigator and are considered top-rated by other groups such as

              Christian Science Monitor, American Institute of Philanthropy, and Consumer Digest or have won awards.

              In addition, these all stand out in scope of mission, seeking to reach a large group of people as 

              determined by their budget or location.

             Catholic Charities USA - The charitable arm of the Catholic church that helps those in need.

             Catholic Medical Mission Board - Provides health care services in areas where there is limited access to

                                                                      such services.

             Easter Seals - Easter Seals is an organization that helps people with all types of disabilities by providing
                                      services for the disabled and support to their families.

             Feeding America - Feeding America feeds more than 37 million hungry Americans every year.

             Matthew 25 Ministries  -  A faith-based initiative that provides food, clean water and clothing to the poor,

                                                       as well as shelter to the homeless and humanitarian aid to prisoners.

             Ronald McDonald House Charities  - Provides housing where families with critically ill children can stay

                                                                            in order to be near their child for treatments.

             Save the Children - Seeks to ensure that the basic needs of every child in the world are met.

 

             Semper Fi Fund - Provides immediate financial relief to injured service members.

 

              UNICEF - Seeks to improve the lives of children through a variety of programs including disaster relief,

                               and other longer-term programs.

 

              United Way Worldwide  - The programs of the United Way are far reaching but span three major goals:

                                                         to improve education and help young people reach their potential, to improve

                                                         health and to promote financial stability.
